Delicious chocolate cocktail for St. Patrick’s Day

Green Drinks for St. Patrick's Day

So, St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and I was inspired to hunt around the house for green treasures. I was surprised how many green things I found! So many memories associated with those treasures too. This is fun. You should try it.

Treat Yourself!

I worked up a bit of a thirst after all that treasure hunting and of course something green was in order. I also wanted something cold and creamy with a super rich flavor. So… off on another treasure hunt. We don’t make a green spirit at the distillery, but we do make that Chocolate Liqueur that tastes great with mint. We had a bottle of the chocolate and a bottle of Creme De Menthe in the bar, and heavy cream in the fridge…. the cocktail is starting to come together now.

There are a few more things we have on hand to make the little treat I came up with that you can get pretty quickly on Amazon if you don’t have them. I have a whipped cream dispenser that I use a little more frequently than I should. Our Chocolate Liqueur whipped cream on banana pancakes is a pretty decent way to start the day. Apple Pie Whiskey whipped cream on a slice of apple pie is amazing… you get the idea. Don’t forget the chargers for your dispenser. I love that I can recycle them because yeah, I go through a few. I also have a can of powdered white chocolate on hand. I add it to my chocolate dessert martinis to add to the mouthfeel. I used a shaker (this one is a good choice if you don’t have one) and a Hawthorne strainer ( I like the rubber thumb pad on this one a lot – no slipping of fumbling). Glasses add so much to the cocktail too. I used coupe glasses, but martini glasses would work as well.

Now the Recipe!

I am not a bartender, but I do get to play one at the distillery. We experiment with cocktails that show off the flavors we create (R&D and tasting are my favorite jobs). Here is my Chocolate Mint Treasure Hunt Reward cocktail (also not a professional cocktail namer).

To make the mint whipped cream:
Tools and Ingredients
-Whipped Cream Dispenser and charger
-2oz Creme de Menthe (I love the emerald green color)
-1c Heavy Whipping Cream
-2Tbs Powdered sugar. You can use granulated sugar, just dissolve it in the cream before you add it to the dispenser.

Heavy whipping cream, Creme de Menthe and sugar go into the chilled whip cream dispenser. Follow dispenser directions to make a green, boozy delight.

To make the cocktail
Tools and Ingredients for 2 drinks
-Cocktail Shaker
-Hawthorne Strainer
-2 Coupe or Martini glasses
-Ice
-2oz Blackfish Chocolate Liqueur
-1oz Heavy Whipping Cream
-1oz milk
-2Tbs Powdered White Chocolate

Add all ingredients to the shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into your glasses and add that minty whipped cream. Enjoy!!
